The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is committed to developing transportation improvements that best balance transportation needs, the environment, community concerns and costs. NJDOT will hold a Virtual Public Information Center (PIC) to provide local residents and businesses with information on the Route 1&9 (Tonnelle Avenue), Manhattan Avenue project. You are encouraged to actively participate by providing comments by mail or eāmail.
The Public Information Center is being held virtually from October 14-28, 2024. Please use the links below to review the presentation, view project information and submit comments or questions.

The overall purpose of this project is to enhance safety and reduce congestion along Route 1&9 between the Tonnelle Circle and North Street (Mileposts 54.6 to 55.93) in Jersey City, Hudson County. This corridor is ranked #2 on the 2019 Safety Management System (SMS) Corridor Segment List #60 on the 2019 Pedestrian Safety Management System (PSMS) Segment List. Route 1&9 is considered “severely congested” on the Congestion Management System (CMS). Please review the flyer at the link below for additional information.
